An Ivy Leaguer from Cornell University with a sharp eye for political nonsense and a local entrepreneur with vigorous private sector experience, Lucas Baumbach is the best candidate for City Council 2009. The tired old games of City Hall and her appointees are in need of a clean sweep. Lucas brings a love for people and a vibrant enthusiasm for dialogue to a system that is stifled by a shadow government that hides from public scrutiny. He will bring an end abuse of consent agenda, the ill-conceived streetcar project, fiscally contradictory policies and the slush fund in the so-called Urban Renewal Agency (which is no longer about urban renewal). He will bring an end to the judicial losing streak that the City is on by allowing only constitutional and legal policies to proceed. He will require capital investments go through a process that requires consent of voters. He will bring the focus to basic services first, like sidewalk infrastructure, instead of frivolous projects. He will improve the acrimonious relations between the City and County, making PR staff irrelevant by directly interacting with County Commissioners.
He will be the constructive partner ACHD has been desiring in City Hall. Lucas will bring ecological management to the Boise Foothills and end mismanagement by those that see the Foothills only as a tool to manipulate green special interests. Lucas will vote against non-city resolutions, like the resolution in support of Obamacare (a 100% partisan resolution). Lucas will liquidate any and every asset that can be used to decrease Boise's Property Tax Receipts, by as much as 20% or $20 million per year. Lucas will end the unchallenged cronyism that plagues city politics, perpetrated by Dave Bieter. Lucas will end the partisan incubator that Boise has become.
